The Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy was established in September 2008 by the UWA Senate.

Its establishment is supported by the Commonwealth of Australia through the Commonwealth Environment Research Facilities Program, the Australian Research Council's Federation Fellowships Scheme and the University of Western Australia.

The centre brings together researchers, scholars, practitioners and government agencies. It develops:

  • innovative theories
  • frameworks
  • economic models
  • and decision tools.

The director is internationally-recognised researcher ARC Federation Fellow, Professor David Pannell, who has an outstanding track record of linking research to policy to enhance natural resource management outcomes.

The centre aims to develop and apply models and decision frameworks that push forward the frontiers of environmental policy design, focusing on scientific integration within an economic framework.
